Halloween may be a few weeks away, but we at Lewis & Clark are big believers in being prepared, especially when it comes to holidays! Halloween happens to be one of our favorites and the decorations are such a big part of that.  Halloween decor has always had a special place in our hearts because it really is the season of quirkiness.  Other times of year may be more beautiful and sparkly but Halloween has such an off-center charm that it’s hard not to feel like a kid again, reveling in the spooky fun of the season.  Plus there is the candy.  So grab a Pumpkin Latte and get ready for some serious cute/weirdness because the Halloween fun is all here!

New Jewelry
Jul.23

Good news you guys, we just got back from the biggest trade show of the year in Atlanta (or Hotlanta as it will always be known to me) and we ordered tons and TONS of new stuff, most of which is pretty awesome.  One of my favorite things we ordered this year was (of course) this gorgeous gold vermeil jewelry!  Personal anecdote: Every year before the show, I go to pack and want to find cute jewelry to go with each lovingly selected (kind of) outfit.  Then I end up with a huge pile of jewelry because nothing I have works with more than one outfit I am bringing and it’s heavy and I know it will turn into a tangled mess before I even get there and I get annoyed and bring nothing.  Which of course I regret when I get there and have nothing fun to add to an outfit in the morning!  When I saw this jewelry at the show I knew that it was exactly the kind of thing I wish I could have brought with me: gorgeous, lightweight, and perfect to throw on with practically anything.  It’s classy enough for going to  nice restaurant in the evening but with an ease which would make it great for day.

Anyway, personal stories aside, be sure to check out our New section for this and loads of other amazing pieces of jewelry, home goods, and more that will be coming in over the next few weeks!

Even though silver is a year-round classic, I’ve always thought that for some reason it really shines in the summer-time.  Something about it’s subtlety and elegance is just the perfect foil to any number of amazing summer looks.  And that’s why we’re doing something new today and styling a couple of lovely summer looks with some of our amazing new silver jewelry!  From classic Kelly green and white to a southwestern tinged, bohemian take on summer dressing, there is no end to the fun you can have with jewelry, and summer is just the time for experimenting with new things.  So have fun and get creative!

Monday Inspiration: Mar y Sol Bags
Apr.30

Now I don’t like to pick favorites because, of course, I love all the the items on our website, but I think everyone at the store can agree that some of the most exciting new pieces we have for summer are these gorgeous, hand-crocheted bags from Mar y Sol.  First, there are the rich, summery colors that just make you think of beach vacations, and thowing on a sundress and some shades for a walk in the sunshine.  Then of course there are the the amazingly intricate styles with that slouchy, hand-made quality that you can tell will only get better with time.

But what really makes these bags special is that each one is hand made in Madagascar out of sustainably sourced raffia, which is native to the area, by artisans who are paid a living wage.  This allows hem to gain economic independence and develop their communities through Mar y Sol’s “trade-not-aid” model.  Which means these stylish bags are as good for you conscience as their are for you closet!  What’s not to love?

Clockwise from top right: Margarita Earrings, $72; Horizon Gazing Sunglasses (Modcloth), 11.99; Essential Stripes Dress (Anthropologie), $158.00; El Paseo Bangles, $45; Mar y Sol Sierra Bag, $89; Mar y Sol Valencia Bag- Natural. $94; Mar y Sol Valencia Bag- Saffron, $94)

Monday Inspiration
Apr.23

While trolling the internet for a little inspiration (sometimes that’s really all you can do on a dull Monday morning) I came across this gorgeous peek inside Carol of Basic French‘s Lyon, France home on Design*Sponge.  I felt immediately perked up by the soft yet rich colors, thoughtful details and overall prettiness of this space and of course decided to channel my moment of inspiration into a collection of items that reflect Carol’s modern and feminine sensibility.  Because looking a pretty pictures and window shopping are two of the best ways to spend a Monday.  Of course.

(Large Venetian Frame, $31.00; Chantal Necklace, $42.00; Stripe Scarf, $36.00;  Distressed Book Boxes, $45.00; A Ranunculus, on of the top three best flowers; Abby Earrings, $41.00)
